REDIRECTING THE VINTAGE TASTE OF ASSAM TEA

Assam tea is a strong robust malty black tea grown in the hills of Assam, known for its briskness, rich amber colour, and use of the Camellia sinensis var. The unique environment of the state characterized its rich taste, malty flavour, high caffeine content and antioxidant property making it an energizing morning drink.



A Story of Heritage, Passion & Commitment

190+ Years of Legacy

1837

The first commercial tea plantation is setup in the state of Assam, India by the Britishers in 1837 in Chabua.

1931

Marwari trader Nathmull Sarda migrates from Rajasthan to the picturesque town of Darjeeling in the early 1900s. Starts a local store in 1931 to retail Darjeeling teas from surrounding estates to visiting tourists. His son Nandlall Sarda takes over soon after. The small family business grows steadily over the next few decades.

1839

The first commercial tea company in Assam was Assam Company India Limited (ACIL) established in 1939.
